New Batman movie

I saw the new Batman movie yesterday and thought it was fabulous. The 2 1/2 hrs were filled with so much action and special effects that it kept me glued to the seat. Great story line, fabulous acting and really well done. I recommend it highly if this is your type of movie

I notice that the 25th is Estelle's birthday and that she passed this week.

I remember when the Golden Girls first came on TV and I loved them. I was surprised to learn that Estelle Getty was actually the youngest of the four and I believe she is the first to leave us. I think I heard that recently she suffered from Alzeimers. I so enjoyed this program and still enjoy watching the reruns.

There are times when I am so stunned into how blissful an evening can be. Tonight is such a night..no need for AC, windows are open, surf/beach music playing. All the cats are stretched out on the screened porch and most likely will spend the night sleeping there. The tree peepers and crickets are all in tune with each other. Gentle sound of boat motors idle up the water and faint laughter lifts up from the boats. I just came in from sitting out on the big ass deck, the air filled with jasmine ...

Any more Rod Stories???

I read " The Sweet Potato Queen's First Bigg-Ass Novel" this weekend. Guess who it made me think of ( and I have never met this darlin)....Jana. For some strange reason I pictured her with almost every word.

I just love it!

Also, if I am not mistaken, Ann is the bacon lover correct? SHe has to read this too! It even has how-to's on things to do with BACON.

I'm a bit late coming to this one but I do have something to say about a "perfect" evening.

My last evening was certainly different to what Jana and others described in the other post.

I'm in China again teaching English for the summer. Near a place called Ruian near the S coast. Yesterday at 4.30 pm the kids were all evacuated as there was a typhoon on the way. Our boss evacuated and left us, the two foreign teachers, here - with his computer (which is good - we can finally ...

Rod Without a Beard...

Rod said something to me over the weekend about shaving off his beard. I told him to try it. I don't remember exactly when Rod grew the beard but I'm sure it was in the 70s too. Might be interesting to see him with a clean face. He can always grow it back. I told him to take pictures if he shaves it off.

I had had my beard continuously since 1978 when last year I decided to just shave it off to see what I looked like without it. It took Cheryl 4-5 days to notice it was gone. A few weeks ...

Ohhh LaLa...today's Flight Plan has created a taste for croissants, cheese, wine, baguettes and crepes. One of my favorite restaurants is featuring a French menu this week to honor Bastille Day. I think I must go, but of course. I will play Brel today and Rod's French Connection...I may even sip coffee and have cigarette while sitting at a sidewalk cafe (aka big ass deck). AuRevior y'all.

Saturday started off interestingly enough. I was walking down the hall towards the lobby of the hotel when I spied someone walking towards me. I assumed the fetal position and tried to make the target as small as possible but Ann The Terrible still managed to swat me upside the head and then verbally abused me. Having a Tree In For Supper

Here's a picture of the tree that fell in our neighbor's kitchen Thursday night while he was at work and we were having supper about 20 feet to the right. It took a professional crew about four hours to remove it yesterday. Of concern to us is the remaining part of the tree obviously leaning towards our house and backyard.

Let's rant for good news as well: nobody was hurt.

My deep appreciation for Rod gets deeper each day. Sunday June 22nd I had four CD's I had burned in a sleeve with my personal CD player. I had planned for after church listening to the wonderful music of Rod McKuen. Instead I've spent all week listening to the soothing music of Rodney Marvin McKuen while I lay in a hospital bed recovering from a mild heart attack and the ensuing tests I was put through. I'll take these same CD's along when I return to the hospital on July 3rd for cancer surgery.

Good Morning All,

I got in to Burbank at 10AM and the first thing I did after checking in to my room was scope out the place for The Collectors Show. I bumped in to a guy who is the Producer of the show and told him I was mainly here to see Rod.

He said "You will like Rod".

I told him I already knew Rod and he said Rod is one of the nicest stars at the show. He says he is genuinely glad to see his fans and really seems to have a good time talking to them and signing ...

Lack of Accountability

Thought I'd move the cell phone/rudeness topic here. For me, it's about accountability and responsibility. That doctor wasn't rude, he was being dangerous in a lethal weapon, aka a car. I love the line from the movie "Network"..."I am mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore".

So, it's ok to shoot someone who trespasses on one's property but not ok, to hold a dangerous driver accountable? Both present harm to another person. Letting the air out of the doctor's ...

Can an evening be more perfect

I sit here this perfect evening, in complete awe of where I live. The temperature is cool enough to leave the windows open and ceiling fans on...it is nearly summer with long daylight into sunset and the moon is nearly full...the fireflies have filled the creek bottom and the jasmine is scenting the air. The screen doors allow the downstairs to fill with slight dampness of the night air. For me, this is perfect bliss and I wish for forever to have nights such as this just before the summer solstice ...

I just checked out the list of celebrities who will be attending the autograph signings...very impressive. Jay, being the Grand PooPah of all things collectible, should be in his element.

I love Grease and will be very curious as to what kind of shape Jeff Conaway will be in. I followed him on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and it was so painful to watch him detox, deal with debilitating pain and expose his mess of a life. Just goes to show us that no one is immune to addiction and dysfunction. ...

Tom Jones Songs

Rod's story about Tom Jones reminds me of two unusual TJ cuts. In 1998 he re-made She's a Lady with the song's author, Paul Anka. They do it as a duet with the two guys arguing over who's "lady" she is. Both still have great chops and had contagious fun with the recording.

The other was a surprising combination. Procol Harem did an album with the London Symphony and TJ did the vocals on Simple Sister. He nails it with terrific voice and full orchestra. I liked it quite a bit better ...

Economizing

Decided to economize a bit today...cancelled my landline and the premium/digital cable services (at least until winter). I have no need of a landline and rarely watch tv in the summer...and SAVED 100.00 a month, which I can put toward an additional payment on the principal of my mortgage. That can reduce my total debt tremendously by just making an extra mortgage payment a year.

I am growing my own herbs this year, shopping at the farmer's market for produce that my dad doesn't grow, combining ...
